ג'ייק וצ'יק מגלים את ה־ABC / ליקה יוסף כשבניי ניצבו בפני אתגר לימוד האותיות, רציתי להפוך את הלמידה שלהם לחוויה - שהלימוד יתרחש תוך כדי משחק, כדרך אגב. בתור מאמינה גדולה בהטמעת מידע וידע חדש על-ידי מציאת קשרים אסוציאטיביים, שיקלו על תהליך השינון, ציירתי לבניי תמונות ששילבו את האות בתוך דמות שהיא עצמה מזכירה את שם האות ואת צורתה. כשראיתי את הקלות בה בניי זכרו איך לצייר את האותיות בזכות הדמויות שנחרטו בזכרונם (ה"עוגנים"), החלטתי לבדוק את יעילות השיטה על עוד ילדים. ההצלחה היתה גדולה. כבר אז חלמתי שבבוא היום אמצא זמן להפוך את השיטה לספר ילדים על מנת שעוד ילדים יוכלו להנות מהקלות שבה ניתן ללמוד אותיות - בכל שפה. רק צריך למצוא את ה"עוגן" הנכון. שיטת העבודה עם הספר: מקריאים את סיפור ההרפתקאות של שני האחים גֶ'יק וְצִ'יק לילד. במהלך הקריאה נותנים לו לחפש את האותיות המסתתרות בכל עמוד, כשהאות המסתתרת זהה לאותיות הממוסגרות בכל עמוד. לאחר שהאות זוהתה ע"י הילד, מסבירים לו את הקשר של אותה האות ל"עוגן" שלה. מדי פעם, כשהספר כבר לא מול העיניים, שואלים את הילד האם הוא זוכר איך נראית אות כלשהי. מספיקות פעמים ספורות עד שהילד כבר לא יהיה זקוק לעזרה ויזכור את ה"עוגן" בעצמו והוא בתורו יזכיר לילד איך נראת האות.
